Dubuque Insulation was founded in 2024 right here in Dubuque, Iowa - a city where winters are long, homes are old, and poor insulation shows up fast on your heating bill. The team grew up in this area and understood firsthand what it means to own a home in a climate zone where temperatures regularly drop below zero and freeze-thaw cycles do real damage year after year.
Dubuque has one of the oldest housing stocks in Iowa. A large share of homes in the hillside neighborhoods near downtown were built before 1940 - beautiful houses, but built before modern insulation standards existed. Our first jobs were in those houses: figuring out how to properly insulate irregular old framing, exposed rim joists, and crawl spaces that face the river air directly.
From those early projects, we built a reputation for straight answers and solid work. We do not oversell. We tell homeowners exactly what their home needs, explain why, and do the job right. That approach has grown us from a small Dubuque operation into a contractor serving 12 communities across Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois - but the mindset has not changed.
